Hoboken hospital to host breast health happy hour event

Hoboken University Medical Center is hosting a breast health happy hour at a Hoboken store Friday evening as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the health care group announced.

HUMC, one of three CarePoint Health hospitals in Hudson County, is partnering with the Athleta store for the free "Drink Some Pink" event from 5 to 7 p.m.
at the store, located at 316 Washington St.
The event will feature pink champagne, information on breast health and breast exams, a Q&A with OB/GYN physicians associated with HUMC and door prizes from local businesses.
CarePoint Health is also hosting its fifth annual Mammogram-A-Thon in October at its hospitals, HUMC, Christ Hospital in Jersey City and the Bayonne Medical Center.

Breast cancer claims 1,300 lives in New Jersey annually and is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the state.
Breast cancer diagnoses in the state are the eighth highest in the country and the most common form of cancer in the state, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
